OVERVIEW
The valleys streaming down from the western mountains into
the regency of Tabanan are among the most fertile in Bali.
The rice terraces here, fed by Lake Bratan, are broad and
serene. The highlands are some of the richest farmland and
natural vegetation on the island. This is Bali.
One of the most profound and powerful Balinese concepts is
called 'Tri Hita Karana'.
It explains the harmony between God,
mankind and the environment. Taking the Matangi
Tour is an aid to remembering this harmony - so come along
for a fun and enjoyable day while learning about Balinese
culture.
Tours are limited to 5 persons. Advance bookings required.

SAFARI INFORMATION & HIGHLIGHTS
No two tours are ever quite the same. You will be picked up
in one of Matangi's luxurious vehicles and taken to exciting
and secret sites not readily accessible to outsiders. You
will learn about Bali's ancient kingdoms and events and personalities
that shaped Bali then and continue to have an influence until
today.
Your guide, fluent in several languages and avid student of
Balinese culture, limits the number of participants on the
Matangi Trek to a maximum of 5 persons
on any one outing - giving visitors an insight rarely available
anywhere else.
Treading lightly, you will visit the village of Cacab - a
charming and friendly place inhabited by some 130 families
- mostly farmers - good people working the land. This is where
you take lunch. Authentic Balinese food is served in a stylish
Balinese setting surrounded by forest and rice fields.

Continuing
onward you are likely to meet some very interesting
and important people in the life of this village. There's
Pak Putu, the local "mayor" called Kepala
Dusun and his wife; Then there's Pak Nyoman Suci, a
Shadow Puppet (Wayang Kulit) Player and Topeng (Mask)
Dancer; as well as one of the local Pemangku Priests
and "Pan Cita", a local farmer. Lovely and
interesting people.

The
final highlight, and one that will leave you with a lasting
impression comes when you are invited to a historic Balinese
Puri (palace) where you have an opportunity to meet the head
of the royal household, take coffee and have an unforgettable
chat.
